When Benny arrives at college, he tries his best to fit in with the athletes while secretly coming to with his sexuality. Over the course of the year, he becomes fast friends with Carmen, an outsider also intent on fitting into the college scene at all costs. Together they go through the highs and lows of life while discovering and learning to accept themselves for who they really are.
A gay show where the biggest draw is Megan Fox in a bikini
Overcompensating isn't "good", per se, but in a world where queer-led stories are still few-and-far between, we'll take what we can get at this point. Still, if you can stick it out through some of the cringey humour that tries too hard in places, there is a sweetness to the show and even some emotional depth towards the end. However, much of that is down to Wally Baram's nuanced role as co-lead rather than the antics of creator and star Benito Skinner. But hey, at least he brings the abs in a show that's as pretty yet confused as its protagonist.
