2023 was an absolutely phenomenal year for television. While many people complain about the rising price of streaming services and the overwhelming number of choices they now have, the reality is that the streaming era has given birth to some fantastic TV shows. From quirky, niche hits like Peacock’s Only Murders in the Building, 2023 has undeniably been a fantastic year for fans of television, and streaming in particular. Six of the top 10 shows watched this year are streaming-exclusives that never aired on cable or network TV.

In fact, not a single series on the list aired on network television, and only one show on the list aired on cable - Paramount’s hit western Wednesday, which scored the #5 spot.

Every major streaming service aside from Peacock has at least one show on the list. Apple TV+ even scored the #3 spot thanks to its breakout phenomenon Ted Lasso, which sadly had its series finale this year. Want to know who else made the Top 10? Read on to discover the most popular TV shows of 2023.

Anytime a clicked on a streaming option, added a show to their watchlist, or marked a show as watched, it counts as an interaction.
