Synopsis
The story of an underdog football team and their journey to FIFA
Thomas, a Dutch-American football coach with anger issues, stands the risk of losing his job unless he can help turn the fate of the world’s worst football team around. Next Goal Wins is the story of how he helped the American Samoa National Team reach the qualification round at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Next Goal Wins is a biographical sports comedy-drama based on the 2014 documentary of the same name. The film is directed by Taika Waititi. He has also co-written the screenplay for the film alongside Iaian Morris. The movie is co-produced by Imaginarium Productions, Defender Films, and Garrett Basch Production. Jonathan Cavendish, Garrett Basch, Mike Brett, and Taika Waititi serve as the producers on the film.
Michael Fassbender plays the role of the Dutch-American coach Thomas Rongen. Oscar Kightley s in to play the role of the funny manager - Tavita. The all star cast also features Australian actor Uli Latukefu As Nicky Salapu, Kaimana as Jaiyah- the first ever transgender footballer to play in the FIFA series, and Elizabeth Moss plays the role of Thomas’ boss, Gail. Rachel House, David Fane, Beulah Koale, Will Arnett, and Frankie Adams round out the rest of the cast.
